Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo review

Oh maidens in your savage season, and it is definitely one of the better mari okada shows i've seen. this will be hella long because i have written about how much i love this show, so its only fitting i give this the love i have for it. she's the author of anohana and also nagi no asukara, and kiznaiver ? but there are a lot of times where she sets up an amazing premise only to pull a very weak, and rushed ending without full consideration of the characters she's created. in this show, despite the somewhat underwhelming major plot arc, and a dip in interest, there is never a moment that doesn't scream YOUTH at the top of its lungs. the plot actually, more or less is a little bit of a disappointment - what started off with a great comedic moment and a lot of potential, especially in regards to navigating the murky waters of falling in love with your childhood friend and girls learning about love, ends up a little bit of a disappointment. Instead of navigating sexu...

voice of reason : dara o'briain live review

Image
i was so excited to finally be able to watch dara o'briain live - mainly because he's absolutely amazing with live audience interaction and that's what you want to see, every show is distinctly different because he riffs off the audience. my first experience was binge watching all of his live DVDs, and he holds a very special place in my heart because he never plays on obvious stereotyping about men and women, and uses cheap tricks (that occasionally fall into the problematic) which happens to a lot of comedians (such as ross noble or paul chowdry). his flair for audience interaction is one of the best, and his energy is always engaging. his work on mock the week as well, is definitely amping up everyones energies and directing it, so he's both earnest and very engaging in all aspects of his work. unfortunately, due to my bad timing i wasn't able to get the front row seats - which is honestly my dream if i was to ever go to a dara show again, because that aspect...

blood sugar ed gamble review

since ed gamble's release of his stand up special, blood sugar, i finally got a chance to watch the show thanks to r/notapanelshow requests. the show isn't bad, it opened up with a few of ed gamble's material that he's used on mock the week and other online clips, which to me isn't necessarily an issue. having to re-use material is always a bit disappointing for me because i constantly keep up to date with comedians and want to see new material, but it's not bad when they do. i enjoy his garish all red outfit as well - very fitting with the "blood" sugar theme going on here. the great thing about this special is that you know after all the old material has been rehashed,  that he's going to use something like a big story for the grand finale, and some new material. Old things such as him and james acaster (and two others) getting stuck in new york - him as a "diabetic comedian" and riffing on audience banter with another type 1 di...

taskmaster s901

a good start to the new taskmaster season - the five contestants are jo brand, katy wix, david baddiel, ed gamble and rose matafeo. the only person im not familiar with is katy wix - but this was a good opening episode the contestants had great banter- and greg has definitely been more in keeping with accurately keeping scores and being a little more rational and level headed with the whole role (aka no ass pulling against younger contestants) i really enjoyed the popsicle task, and 100% am obsessed with david baddiel. really looking forward to the rest of this season - even though nothing will ever top my season of favorites - but loving the amount of women as well.
